How to Get Started

Overview of the Localization Workflow

  1. Set the base language and fallback language
  2. Add supported languages for text localization
  3. Enter translation data for each supported language
  4. Perform test play after applying localization
  5. Export the game project by outputting the published build

Basic Settings

Selecting the Base Language

Set the base language for the project. This will be the reference language for all localized text.

  1. Click the box to the right of "Base Language."
  2. From the displayed "Local List," select the desired language and click "OK."

Selecting the Fallback Language
The fallback language is used as a substitute when a translation is missing for the player's selected language, or when certain text has not been translated.

  1. Click the box to the right of "Fallback Language."
  2. Select the desired language from the dropdown menu.

Adding and Removing Supported Languages

By adding or removing supported languages, you define which languages can be switched in-game.

Text Localization

The text localization feature allows you to efficiently manage in-game text and implement multilingual support.

Import/Export Function

By selecting the Import or Export button, you can export localization target text data to an Excel (.xlsx) file or import data that has been translated or edited externally.

Import

  1. Select the Excel (.xlsx) file to import from Explorer.
  2. In the Local List, check the locales you want to add, then click "OK."

Export

  1. Select Save in Explorer to output (export) an Excel (.xlsx) file.

Resource Localization

You can replace in-game resources such as images and audio files with alternatives that correspond to the selected language.

Localizable Resource Types

BGM, sound effects (SE), environmental sounds, terrain, materials, textures, models, particles, motions, slice animations, 3D stamps, physics settings, movies, sprites, 2D stamps, images, blend shapes, and decals.

Test Play with Localization Applied

Test play allows you to actually see the language switching during gameplay and the resulting changes in resources used, as set up in the localization tool.

How to Use

  1. In the Map Editor, click the "…" button next to "Test Play" in the top menu.
  2. From the displayed menu, select "Test Play with Localization".
  3. Choose the language you want to test. The game will launch in that language setting.

Language Switching in the Exported Game

In the exported game, the initial language is automatically selected based on the Windows system language.
To switch languages manually, select the language you wish to change by going to the “Language Switching” menu (restart required) in the upper menu settings after starting the game. The game will restart.
