About the Name
RPG Developer
Bakin

The name “Bakin” (pronounced [ˈbɑːkɪn]) in RPG Developer Bakin is inspired by Kyokutei Bakin, regarded as Japan’s first professional author, who was active from the late 18th to the early 19th century.

His most famous work is Nansō Satomi Hakkenden, the longest heroic novel in Japanese literary history. Set in Japan’s Warring States period (the Sengoku period, late 15th to early 17th century), the story follows eight samurai — each bearing the character for "dog" in their surname — who are drawn together by fate and guided by eight mystical jewels, each representing one of the Confucian virtues: benevolence, justice, courtesy, wisdom, loyalty, faith, filial piety, and brotherhood. The epic is renowned for its thrilling storytelling, rich imagination, and masterful structure. It has inspired numerous manga and anime over the years.

We named this tool RPG Developer Bakin with the hope that, like Kyokutei Bakin, you too will craft compelling stories — this time, through the medium of games.

Create a "world" as if you were playing a game! Fun and highly functional

This is Bakin’s core tool for creating the maps that serve as the stage for your game. With intuitive controls, you can sculpt terrain, place objects like buildings, set effects and lighting, and lay out events—bringing the landscapes you envision to life.

The editor also makes it easy to apply a wide range of post-processing effects to your maps. From day-night cycles and weather transitions to deep fog, atmospheric lighting, and cinematic depth-of-field effects, you can create visuals that feel straight out of a movie.
Advanced visual tools like bloom, depth of field (DoF), ambient occlusion, and fog are available—along with preset combinations—so you can quickly switch between looks or fine-tune every detail to create your ideal setting.

Another standout feature is the ability to instantly test play the map you're working on. With built-in debugging tools, you can check your game's content quickly and efficiently as you build.

Simply arrange the panels!
No programming required.

In Bakin, all in-game actions—such as character movements on the map, story progression, and in-battle events—are created as “events.”

Common events like “joining the party,” “obtaining an item,” or “moving between maps” can be added to your game quickly using built-in templates with minimal adjustments.
If you want to go further and add detailed effects or unique behaviors, you can convert any event into a custom event and freely customize it.

The Event Editor lets you create events simply by placing event panels—each with specific functions—onto an event sheet with defined trigger conditions.
From basic functions like “showing dialogue” or “moving characters”, to more complex operations such as branching choices, variable control, and UI modifications, the editor offers a wide variety of event panels so you can bring your ideas to life just the way you imagine.

For advanced users, it’s also possible to incorporate custom behavior into events using C# scripts.
You can even assign multiple C# plugins to a single event, enabling deep customization and powerful functionality.

Unleash your creativity to shape your own world

A highly customizable database for game elements such as main characters, monsters, skills, and items.

The database allows you to configure a wide range of game data in detail—including stats and growth curves for characters (referred to as “Casts” in Bakin), skill activation conditions, item effects and equip conditions, and even monster AI behavior. You can create custom classes and assign them to Casts, add entirely new parameters, or define status effects such as "Sleep" or "Poison" that influence the player.

You can also assign events to Casts, skills, and items to define their behavior when they appear in the game. For example, you can create monsters that roam the map or design items whose effects grow stronger when acquired, simply by using event settings.

*In Bakin, characters and monsters with parameters are referred to as “Casts.”

Customize Your Game Screen Design!

Layout Tool

A tool for designing various in-game screens and menus.
This tool allows you to customize the design of different screens and menus displayed during gameplay. You can configure graphical elements such as part images, positions, and animations, as well as control what in-game data is displayed and which screens open when specific menu options are selected.

You can also create multiple layouts for different scenes and switch between them using events. This makes it possible to dynamically change elements like dialogue windows or menu displays to match the progression of the story.

Enhance Your Game's Atmosphere with Cinematic Touches

A tool that lets you deliver dynamic scenes using a fully controllable 3D camera.

You can fine-tune camera angles with keyframes, making it easy to stage impactful event sequences. Position, rotation, zoom, pan, and target tracking can all be freely adjusted—enabling cinematic movements and dramatic visual storytelling, all without writing a single line of code. You can also switch between multiple cameras and synchronize their actions with events to emphasize key story moments effortlessly.

RPGBakin_Resources_EN

Import your own assets! Manage all your game resources with ease.

A tool for managing all types of resources used in your game, including graphics, sound, and more.
You can easily add or remove assets—including your own original creations—and configure detailed settings for each one.

For 3D assets, the tool supports management of models, motions, blendshapes, materials, and particles, as well as combined resources known as “Stamps.”
Materials can be customized using a variety of preset shaders, including toon shaders.
With the “Subgraphic” system, you can combine multiple Stamps to build new ones, offering flexible ways to assemble and reuse components.
The tool also supports importing VRM files, a widely used format for 3D avatars.

For 2D assets, you can manage not only standard images but also pattern animations (sprite sheets) for characters moving on maps, as well as sprite-based character portraits and 2D animation data used during dialogue and cutscenes.
In addition, you can apply a Decal Shader to 2D assets to create decals—textures that can be applied like stickers to terrain or objects.

You can also manage sound files used for sound effects and background music, as well as movie files, all within this single tool.
